Philippines Publishes Draft Regulation on Chemical Control Order for Cadmium and Cadmium Compounds

The Philippines Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) have recently published a draft DENR Administrative Order (DAO) to provide details on the Chemical Control Order (CCO) for Cadmium and Cadmium compounds.

The DAO is expected to apply to manufacturers, importers, distributors, industrial users and waste service providers including transporters, treaters and disposers.

What will the order cover?

This Order will cover activities related to chemicals that are listed in Annex A. Exemptions apply to any Cadmium found in products and/or materials (not considered as substance or mixture) not in the scope of Republic Act 6969 and any Cadmium substances and mixtures covered by other laws such as food, drugs, cosmetics, etc.

Any individual or organization engaging in activities involving Cadmium/Cadmium compounds are required to register and apply for a permit for their purposes. Registered importers must also have an Importation Clearance.
