Chemical Packaging Committee’s 2017 Summer Conference

Steve Schulte, UL ChemADVISOR’s Senior Dangerous Goods Specialist, recently attended the Institute of Packaging Professionals’ Chemical Packaging Committee’s (CPC) Summer Conference in Alexandria, VA, where he was elected as Vice-Chairman of CPC for 2018 and 2019. Mr. Schulte is also a member of the Executive Subcommittee of CPC.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Material Administration (PHMSA) provided regulatory updates on an upcoming rulemaking and a summary of the regulatory environment under the new Administration. Other topics at the Summer Conference included a review of self-audit guidelines, OSHA Inspections and Procedures, Specification Guidelines for purchasing regarding corrugated packages, and a review of the CPC Shippers Guide to Loading and Securement. California’s initiative to find removal methods for waste in California landfills was also discussed.
