Colorful bottoles - China Publishes Catalogue of Specially Controlled Hazardous ChemicalsIn June 2020, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Public Security, and Ministry of Transportation, jointly released Announcement No.1 of 2020: “Catalogue of Specially Controlled Hazardous Chemicals (First Edition)” to strengthen safety management of twenty specially controlled hazardous chemicals.

The specially controlled hazardous chemicals refer to chemicals that have inherently high hazards, and have high risks of causing major accidents with serious consequence. They are circulated in high volume in China and require special monitoring and control.

Hazardous chemicals listed in this Catalogue will be subject to stringent control measures, including:

  • Establish an information-sharing platform and implementing full lifecycle traceability of the hazardous chemicals;
  • Take stricter measures on new construction project approval;
  • Strengthen the management on packaging, transportation and storage.

Reagent products for scientific research purposes are currently out of scope of this Catalogue.

The Catalogue of Specially Controlled Hazardous Chemicals has recently been added as a new list (List ID 8428) to UL’s LOLI database.
