We sincerely apologize for any confusion that was inadvertently created but the July 2013 article on K-REACH has been clarified. The added text is in red.
According to MOE, from January 1, 2015, hazard assessments will be mandatory for new chemicals at any quantity and existing chemicals manufactured or imported at more than 1 ton per year, and MOE will have the authority to order withdrawal, disposal, prohibit sales or recall products containing chemical substances, including consumer products, that are not compliant with K-REACH.
Not only New Chemicals at any quantity but also Existing Chemicals will be subject to registration prior to manufacturing or importing more than 1 metric ton per year per business in Korea. Registration standards will be stricter than that of TCCA and joint submission will also be mandatory for the same substances unless exempted by law.
