UL becomes the global leader in software solutions and services for regulatory compliance and safer chemistry tools.
UL, the safety science company, announced in November of 2013 the acquisition of The Wercs. This acquisition expands UL’s ability to deliver information and resources that enable customers to manage their complex global supply chains and make smarter decisions.
The Wercs and UL have a shared goal – to transform the supply chain by providing better information. The Wercs supply chain information system provides regulatory data necessary for compliance with complex regulations. It protects the confidentiality of supplier’s confidential information, while helping suppliers and their customers meet their goals of putting safer products in the marketplace.
The Wercs tools and services help the top companies in the world handle, store, transport, and dispose of products safely and in compliance with global regulations, measure sustainability goals and manage reputational risk. With its proprietary, automated system, The Wercs assists in the transition to new GHS Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements. The Wercs comprehensive tools address thousands of global regulations, numerous regional requirements and are capable of producing documents in over 45 languages.
The addition of The Wercs leverages UL’s trusted safety reputation to address the growing need for regulatory compliance and accurate measurement of sustainability initiatives, while protecting confidential information.
“This is an exciting partnership that will have a positive impact. Our mission of providing the world-wide standard SDS authoring system and information to ensure regulatory compliance, as well as tools to measure sustainability initiatives, while protecting confidential information is enhanced and will continue,” said Lou DeSorbo, The Wercs. “Combining UL’s global operations and safety expertise with our industry knowledge and world class software will enable us to serve customers more effectively.”
